8th Grade Farewell Dance

Ahhh the rites of passage. I can't believe that Adrien entered middle school just a few short years ago (see pic on his 12th birthday). He has since "graduated" and considers himself a Freshman. He is a beautiful soul inside and out. He decided to ask Meghan S. to go with him...she is a beauty, and a sweet girl, too. Adrien got her a wrist corsage because ..well he did not want to pin "anything anywhere"..he said that he had a great time at the dance...and his tecahers conjured up a little surprise for him on the Busch Gardens trip. The teachers asked if I would come and help, and they decided not to tell Adrien that I was joining the trip as well as riding on his bus...hee hee! I think they asked me more for accompanying them as they are my pals! It was a great trip...never saw much of Adrien until he ran out of money!

Fl is falling apart now that we are leaving...

My Florida friends...and even Osama oops! Obama is beyond grief that we are leaving this beautiful state. I believe that the Sunshine State is indicating its disapproval...in the only way it knows how...a sinkhole! All of us are pretty surprised that this popped up on the road we travel on ummm at least 8-10 trips a day! It was estimated that the hole went down 15 ft deep and crossed all 4 lanes and even included the lake to the right of the roadway! I could not help but think of Vanessa possibly traveling on her way to school (with Todd asleep in the back seat)and the roadway caving in front of her! Just a few hours earlier I had the BMW full of yw needing rides home as well as my kids! What would I have said to their parents as I left them all there? --kidding! :) Let's just say I will be glad to leave behind the hurricanes, sinkholes, biting ants, and non-English speakers behind...but not my friends...potatoes here I come..I think I hear Barbara,Summer, and Amy cheering now!

Easter and Alzheimer's....

Easter is an annual event at the Theobald household. You may think that Diana is well versed in preparation for the big event...has shopped for candy (check), shopped for small gifts (check), got the stupid Easter grass that clogs the vacuum for weeks (check), remembers her husband is diabetic (check), puts back HIS candy (check), gets the eggs...check! Makes sure the "Ten Commandments" or "The Robe" is on TV...humpf! What did last years winner of the coveted, "Blonde Mom of the Year Award" forget?..Ummm..just.. Dye for the eggs! We had white eggs this Easter....many may think we are racist...we are not. Actually...let's think about the white egg for a minute. No one accepts it for what it is. It has got to be suffering from an identity crisis ! Poor eggs...well, Easter started with a shout from Bretty Steve...then breakfast...chocolate bunny ears...and paws...and torso. Trading of the candy...then church! More candy....then ham...more candy...then the Easter Egg hunt....Todd aka "Mr. Obvious" hid the eggs this year...it was over in 10 minutes...HEAVY SIGH! :( The kids opened the golden and silver eggs (These have cash or fun coupons) I think Vanessa got $1.00 off of Publix orange juice!!! It was great even though Mom forgot the dye....yeah, I know I could have used food coloring, but Moses was parting the sea, and I did NOT wanna miss that!

And the boy named "Most likely to succeed" by the 8th grade Neptune Middle School class of 2009.....is.."

Not Adrien. He was actually given a better honor in the eyes of his step dad and his peers....the title of "The Biggest Flirt." I know you are thinking, "Adrien? a flirt? C'Mon, Diana! He is so shy and innocent." Yes, I too am proud that my son is a "great communicator"... (he is following in the footsteps of Reagan). I found a church member or two actually upset about it...Pshaw! I am sure they are just jealous because they have never won anything themselves in school...;) Adrien also won class clown, but was not allowed to win in two categories...(8th grade equivalent to affirmative action..)Reagan is in the Celestial Kingdom shaking his head...I know it! Take a look at the picture of Reagan .....now look at Adrien...uh huh...I see it too! ;)

We are grandparents!

No, silly! It is not a real baby!It is Adrien's homework in "Life Choices" class. Adrien had to take care of the baby overnight. The baby is monitored with a electronic device that his teacher set to go off at different times that afternoon and through the night. The baby burps, needs to be fed, held, and needs diaper changes. It also is sensitive to any shaking, yelling, etc. Adrien was very diligent, but was caught muttering some phrases under his breath through clenched teeth! Todd and I laughed a lot! Adrien is convinced that this was an exaggerated version of what a baby does... It was an interesting night...I wonder if Adrien has changed his mind about wanting several kids? Nahhh he hasn't!

The Bee-otch (as Brett calls Melbourne Beach) and my Coppertone Baby!

A relaxing day at the beach! I just love living in Florida! Jaime, a friend of Vanessa from Indiana, was visiting Kissimmee and stopped by to visit us so we took her to the beach! We packed the station wagon, Adrien's broken leg, Brett's multiple sand castle pails, assorted kitchen utensils, water, and Todd! Off we went! The kids are lotioning each other down..... It was very windy~~~~~we found a jellyfish on the shore that Jaime and Vanessa swear was still alive. They insisted on burying it, and saying a prayer at night for it. Adrien took off his brace and got in the waves for a few minutes. He also was buried in the sand. The funny thing is that Brett was a bit ticked off at him, and decided on his own to invoke some sweet revenge. My coppertone baby! Brett also has heard about "snow angels" but thought about making his own "sand angels"...that is his face after his first attempt! We had a really fun afternoon at the beach...I am trying to talk Todd into moving to Melbourne...:)
